I wonder what members think of papers that include a personal experience to illustrate the topic. I find that genuine experiences enhance the understanding of the topic , it also helps individuals at the meeting, empathise with the experience and are able to view the action from another perspective e.g. seeing that frustration or impatience in a person is rajas manifesting to balance out excessive tamas, like when convalescing .
I see the Cheltenham Group used ordinary examples which seemed very helpful . Dr Roles often bade one talk from one's experience and not merely mouth the sages.

Re: using examples to enhance a paper
Thank you, Merlyn, for your reflection on personal experience. It is something that, at our Cheltenham meetings, we find so valuable. We are a diverse group, brought together by a precious aim, and I believe we have found that the sharing of considered personal experiences, related to a paper, not only helps to deepen individual understanding but also enriches our weekly satsang.
