Gratitude and Purification - Sydney Group

Postby merlyn » Mon Oct 25, 2010 6:01 am

The Sydney Group was delighted to have a visit from Richard and Rachel Larcombe and this formed the basis of a meeting on the Gratitude paper that carried Richard's name with James D'Angelo. The paper was very well received and was regarded as very useful and provided a great opportunity for a dialogue on two important concepts. But first- we are delighted to have such visits and welcome members from all over.
We made a happy effort to gather as many of our members in the day time together. We had a meeting that Richard very kindly took and then a party followed. So this is our first bit of news from Australia. We welcome any further visits and felt quite honoured to be in this situation once again.
The first topic for a lively dicussion was on the concept - Gratitude. It was felt that true gratitude was a manifestation of pure love . At this moment there is unity and the 'you' is lost bcause gratitude has taken it to that level of realisation that the Param Atman is one with the person feeling the gratitude. It is a wonderful moment of unity. There is no longer the person offering thanks and ONE receiving the thanks , there is only ONE.There is a glow of contentment in this realisation and hence it can never be a superficial type gratitude .
The next point for a lively discussion was when the question was asked -- what was the need for purification as this was the problem that took this member out of religion, where there was this constant need to redeem oneself. There immediately comes this dualiastic idea of a God there and me a sinner needing to be purified. If as we are told, all is Consciousness, then one is a manifestation of Consciousness/God as are one's actions,as they are those of God's. But the moment that the need arises to purify oneself there is this construct of duality. What happens, happens, there is really no need for regret,as what has been done cannot be undone The desire to change what took place is also a manifestation of Conscousness. It may give one room for further thought and the desire to go with the flow, if that is what is meant to happen it will change the next time one meets it.Trust is paramount. and goes hand in hand with being in the NOW where Conciousness is .
It was felt that gratitude comes of its own accord and unity follows. The need to remember the P.A at several points of an action was not always possible, but serving the needs of each moment was the answer to this, as one's full attention is on the action , the ego disappears and all that is left is the action and thus Oneness manifesting. Purification may be seen as an aspect of being in the moment and serving its needs with full attention. This removes it from that duallistic sphere of 'me 'the sinner and God there, needing to purify the 'me.' The group felt very grateful to James D'Angelo as Richard did say it was James' model it certainly gave us a lively meeting and an opportunity to be ONE with James as well as Richard , Rachel and all.Thank you .
